  • To empower pupils to be active and responsible learners in an IT-enriched environment.
  • To empower teachers to be effective IT advocates in the learning environment.
  • To equip pupils with the necessary IT knowledge, skills and values for their effective functioning in a rapidly changing technological world.
  • To establish a robust IT infrastructure and a diverse range of resources both for academic and administrative excellence in the school system

FUTURE CLASSROOMS

Principles behind the concept of the Future Classroom
The envisioning of the Future Classrooms came about with the desire to enrich and transform the learning environment of our pupils.
The 3 driving principles of this vision are:-
  • Providing differentiated professional development that is more practice-based and models how ICT can be effectively used to help students learn better;
  • Improving the sharing of best practices and successful innovations; and
  • Enhancing ICT provisions in schools to support the implementation of Master Plan 3.
In view of these, Future Classrooms was ultimately conceptualized to strengthen integration of ICT into curriculum, pedagogy and assessment to enhance learning and develop competencies for the 21st century. The school hopes to equip the pupils with the infrastructure that will shift the paradigm of learning and teaching that supports the realization of the 21st Century Competencies and the MP3 vision and cater to the growing needs of our new breed of learners who are increasingly digital natives.

Key Features

1) INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS FOR ALL P1-P4 CLASSROOMS
In Dec 2010 and June 2011, the school installed a batch of Interactive Whiteboards (IWB) in the P1 and P2 classrooms respectively. This infrastructure facelift, which will span throughout a 4-year period of 2011 to 2014, ensures the provision of a new learning environment for the 2011 P1 cohort and thereafter throughout their 4 years of primary schooling in Pei Tong Primary School.

2) SEGREGATED WIRELESS NETWORK FOR P5 AND P6 BANDED CLASSROOMS
2 classrooms in Primary 5 and Primary 6 level were equipped with a segregated wireless network. A BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system is emplaced to utilise the network affordances. Learning became transformed when teachers leverage on the immense potential of Web 2.0 tools in their teaching where pupils are self-directed and collaborative learners as they interact in a virtual world of learning opportunities. As they say, the world is your oyster.
