Who we are
Mr Darren Lee, Ms Erika Yap, along with conductor, Ms Khor Aiming.
As a performing Arts group, choir provides a place for students to develop holistically, especially in the aesthetics aspect. The members learn proper singing techniques, using their voices to create beautiful tone, as well as basic theory for deeper understanding and appreciation of the music they sing. Choir members are exposed to a wide range of repertoire, ranging from classical to folk to popular, including songs in different languages and from various cultural backgrounds. There are ample performance opportunities for choir both in school and in public. Choir also seeks to serve the community by performing for the elderly in the yearly Community Lunch event in Pei Tong. Choir participates in the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation and was awarded certificate of distinction in SYF 2014.
About our conductor -Ms Khor
In 2009, PT Choir was also invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the Peranakan Festival held at Singapore Management University. In the same year where we achieved Silver for SYF, the choir also performed for the school’s 65th anniversary celebrations where Minister of State, Dr Amy Khor graced the official opening of the new school campus as well. In 2011, the choir was also invited by NTUC Fairprice to perform at the grand opening of its outlet in Hougang NEX.
Some of PT Choir members also had opportunities in the past years to participate in the Lord of the Rings choir performance as well as the annual Chingay parades. Early this year, as part of our nation’s SG50 celebrations, the choir was also invited to perform at the Clementi “Here’s where I belong” SG50 concert at Singapore Polytechnic.
